Reading I
OVERVIEW
The purpose of this course is to provide instruction that enables you to accelerate the development of reading and writing skills and to strengthen those skills so you are able to successfully read and write grade-level text independently. Instruction emphasizes reading comprehension, writing fluency, and vocabulary study through the use of a variety of literary and informational texts that encompass a broad range of text structures, genres, and levels of complexity.

Requirements
Besides engaging students in challenging curriculum, the course guides students to reflect on their learning and to evaluate their progress through a variety of assessments. Assessments can be in the form of practice lessons, multiple choice questions, writing assignments, projects, research papers, essays, oral assessments, and discussions. Instructors evaluate progress and provide interventions through the variety of assessments built into a course, as well as through contact with the student in other venues
